My Paint Shelf is Shrinking!

The other day I asked my Instagram followers to let me know some of their biggest concerns while painting. I received a variety of answers from not knowing when to call a painting finished, general composition questions, and probably the biggest category of questions orbited around color.

On social media, I have to make my responses compact. To be honest with myself, I have to understand that some users will never see my response to their questions and on the other hand, I have to be respectful to the customers that have purchased workshops from me. There is a fine line to walk.

I am happy to report that every question I received regarding color is covered in my “Expanding on Color” online workshop! I feel proud because I have been feeling that the content in that workshop is the best I have ever created and when I think about the answers to the questions I get, the feeling is very rewarding.

This brings me to my paint shelf. When I finish a large painting, I usually clean and dust my studio. The paint shelf I have had for the past several years used to be overflowing with paint . I didn’t have enough room. Now that I am utilizing the material in the “Expanding on Color” workshop, I am using AND buying less paint!

I record notes on every new painting plus test the colors I will use in case I ever need to revisit the art.

I’ve identified my favorite colors to work with and am now buying those in larger bottles. My color selection choices are easier and therefore I am not wasting any paint. The process allows me an organized way to study the color combinations I dream up as well as how to create harmonious mixtures. Have you ever placed a shade of blue on your art, stepped back and thought that wasn’t the right blue at all? What about green? All colors are not created equal! I can help.

Finding the perfect color combos, tinting, shifting, glazing and harmonious color selections - we talk about this in the workshop! Learning how to visually layer transparent and opaque mixtures as shown in my work? We cover two paintings on video start to finish. Click here to learn more about the workshop. The workshop is available immediately after you register and you can work on it for as long as you like. I’d love to work with you!
