Here is something you missed- free abstract painting tutorials.

Sometimes you might just need a little video reminder, a quick supply link and some inspiration. Here are some of the recent Reel videos I have posted on Instagram.

Questions come in masse on Instagram. I frequently receive duplicate inquiries on the same topic. Check out this video where I demonstrate that the covering power of Golden Heavy Bodied acrylics and Golden Fluid acrylic is the same. What I like about the heavy bodied (tube) paint is that you can build the texture up in these paints. You can carve into the wet paint and spread it on thick. In that instance, the heavy bodied will cover easier. However, when used in the same amount, the coverage is the same.

A fun texture medium that you can use to add some pizazz to your acrylic projects is Glass Bead Gel. You can check out the interesting texture it leaves in this video. What I like about this medium is that you can tint it with acrylic paint before you apply it to your artwork OR you can paint on top it it once it is dry. I love to have fun running water over the dried gel and then bleeding paint through it.

I know texture in abstract art is very popular now. Check out my thoughts on the home made recipes you may come across on other websites by following this link.

I like to refer to my process as “visual layering”. Often times when people purchase my original paintings, they tell me that the painting looks amazing in person and that the camera doesn’t capture the nuance and vibrancy of the layers. Check out this video where I highlight some of my recent abstract paintings and pan over the texture in great lighting so that you can look deep inside those layers. Yum!

I don’t give in person studio tours, because the truth is, those tours would be over in about 29 seconds. My studio space is very very small, but I get the job done in there! In order to work most efficiently, I have to maximize every square inch of space in my studio. Check out this video here where I detail some of my most asked about space saving techniques. Hint: We make pretty much everything, so the organizational ideas are inexpensive and customizable.

My most popular posts seem to revolve around my painting journal. I’ve filmed it a lot over the last few years, and I have even dedicated an entire blog post about the journaling process here. If you would like to see a little quick flip through to get a better glimpse inside of my painting journal, click here.

Finally, I am going to add one more because, well, ’tis the season! If you need a hostess gift, teacher gift, or a gift for anyone, actually, these acrylic frames look amazing and much more expensive than their price tag which s around $10 a piece. I love making small paintings to give away at this time of year. Here they are in action.

I hope you found this recap helpful, I know a lot of people miss seeing my reels in their feed. Please also know that if you would like to use any of my affiliate links to browse or purchase any of the supplies I mention (including those acrylic frames, which you can find under the OTHER category on my list), you can read through my massive art supply list by clicking here.
