Couldn’t resist the title to this post… a play on words surrounding my newest piece, “Mystery” - a 22x28 inch original mixed media painting shown below:
Blow to my pocket book this week, as I learned that our publisher (FW Media) has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. Our book, “Acrylic Solutions” has been selling steadily since its release in 2013 which has been providing me with pretty nice royalty checks this whole time. I’ve got a lot of questions about the process, and will probably have to hire an attorney to help me sort through everything that I know so far…but the chances of seeing any of the money are slim I think. Sucks.
Our book has sold through some of its International printings, and new printings were ordered during my last pay period.. I received the statements..but no money. Begs the question, if people continue to buy the book, and the publisher is not paying the authors, who is getting the money? Also- what about my title once the reorganization is said and done?
If you are a print author and have any experience with this topic, please shoot me a note. I’d love to hear more.
Until next time…thanks for stopping by.
